Caring and Sizing your watch

Watch Maintenance

All Ulanix® timepieces are self-winding automatic mechanical watches and do not have batteries. To assure continued and long-lasting good use of your watch, please follow the easy instructions below:

• As self-winding automatic our watches depend on the movement of the arm to operate but also require some manual winding, even if you wear your watch every day:
  • If you wear your watch on daily basis, we recommend to wind it once, every two weeks to keep the wheels in motion and oil fluid. Simply wind the crown until you meet slight resistance.
  • If you do not wear your watch everyday, please try to wind it at least twice a week to keep the inside mechanism in complete running order.
  • If you do not wear your watch for longer period, you should try wind it at least ones in two days. You also can buy automatic watch winder and keep your automatic watches there then you are not wearing them.
• Try to wind your watch at the same time of the day. This is extremely beneficial for the mechanism.
• Avoid changing setting for the day and/or date at nighttime. The calendar mechanism is activated during the night hours and could be disrupted if set at this time.
• And, always avoid wearing your mechanical watch, if you are playing a sport requiring continuous arm motion (e.g. tennis, baseball, golf), since continuous arm motion could damage the movement.

Caring for the Crystal?
Ulanix watches have a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, however no crystal is truly scratchproof. Therefore, it is not advisable that you toss your watch onto the dresser (especially with other jewelry which can scratch the crystal) or into a drawer at the end of the day. It's better for the watch to store or wrap it in a soft cloth before placing it down. You also can keep your watch in its original Ulanix presentation box, which comes with each watch. The more care you take with the watch, the less scratches you will end up with. If crystal is broken or cracked replace it immediately. Even a smallest crack can let dust or moisture into the mechanism, threatening its accuracy.

Water-Resistant
Ulanix timepieces are water-resistant to different a depth (depends of the model), which makes them suitable for swimming, but we recommend avoiding doing it until it is absolutely necessary. And always make sure your watch is dry after it has been exposed to water. By taking a few minutes and thoroughly drying your watch with a lint-free cloth, you will prevent rust from forming. This is a key point in ensuring the long life of your watch.

Cleaning Your Watch?
The best way to clean your watch is by using a lint-free cloth and a toothpick. Use the toothpick to clean out any dirt buildup in the bracelet or casing of the watch and the cloth to wipe it clean. If it is water-resistant, give it an occasional cleaning with a mixture of warm water and a mild soap. If the strap is leather, clean only the case.

Servicing Your Watch?
As any other piece of machinery, mechanical watch must be cleaned, oiled, and serviced. We recommend doing it every two-three years, without servicing you may notice the watch losing time or running fast-or it may stop working altogether. For service just take your watch to a local watch professional.

Sizing Bracelet of Your Watch
If you have ordered a watch with a metal bracelet, there is a good chance that you will have to remove one or more links to fit your wrist properly. We ship all watches unsized, because sizing can only be done with the wearer present. We recommend you take your watch to a reputable local jeweler or watch repair specialist for sizing. Expect to pay a nominal fee for this service. Do not try to size your own watch! You may damage or scratch the watch and bracelet. The liability is yours - Ulanix will not accept a scratched or damaged watch for return. Keep removed bracelet links, because a watch bracelet may break and it will be a lot easier (and cheaper!) to have the bracelet repaired with your own links than ordering and shipping new ones or purchase new bracelet.
